Hey to everyone considering Country Madness 2020. We’re up to our 4th year of Madness, but our first year at Kinchant Outdoor Education Centre (near Kinchant Dam, Eton). Everything will be like new in a new place.
Instead of dormitories we will be sleeping in their permanent tents, 2 or 3 people per tent. You need to bring your entire bedding arrangement, suitable for a tent, but do not bring your own tent.
On this page you’ll find the packing list and a few things you might like to know.
CRITICAL: WHAT TO BRING (PDF file). Please download and read carefully. Try not to forget anything on the list if possible. THIS HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR 2020 YET
EXTRA COMMENTS: During this camp we will most likely not be visiting Kinchant Dam. It is a long weekend and we expect the dam will be heavily used. However we will almost certainly send a research party to the Dam to investigate whether it might be better than we thought, and therefore useful in a future year. I assure you, we have plenty of fun stuff planned at the campsite.
Hopefully camp will be free of the midges and mozzies we’ve had the last 3 years, but if you have sensitive skin, bring some repellent that is safe for you. We will have some on site already for general use.
Bring some clothes that can get filthy and/or wet. You never know what we will plan.
If you play a musical instrument and you’re considering bringing it, please let us know ahead of time. Once again we will have an awesome band, and if you want to be part of it, then we want that too. But we need to know what instruments or players will be there so we can organise the music. Drum kit and bass guitar will be supplied, but still let us know if you play them. Don’t try to bring your own drum kit.
Camp will officially start on Saturday morning, when everyone has arrived, but you can arrive from 5pm on Friday 1 May. We may run a couple of board game competitions (Chess is almost guaranteed) on the Friday night. If you have a choice please aim for Friday night so you don’t miss any of the fun. If you’re traveling from a distance we understand the time it takes.
